Talente 2004. Each year, the Munich chamber
for crafts and trades (Handwerkskammer für München
und Oberbayern) puts up large special exhibitions for the
international
trades fair in Munich, Germany. One of these special exhibition
is called Talente.
Talente shows projects
by about 80 individuals or teams from 25 countries. At
the same time, all projects are being presented in a high
quality
catalogue, and they enter the contest for the annual award.
Award winners will again be published in the following year’s
catalogue.
Projects from the domains of applied
arts (glass, wood, ceramics, furniture, utensils, paper,
textiles,
jewellery, etc.) as well as artefacts and prototypes from
the field of technology, namely technological constructions
or
inventions related to scientific research are accepted.
In the domain of technology, technologies
from all kinds of engineering, high tech and production technology
are exhibited along with sports and leisure time inventions,
medical technology, and environmental technology. Talente
is open to any
new field, and as the name suggests, it is not the place
for orthodoxy. The crucial criterion is that the candidate
has produced the piece by his or her own hand.
The aim of Talente is to present the works of young people
who are particularly gifted in making things and who by their
work show their masterly skills. The works should be the
outcome of intensive experiments reflecting either formal
or technical considerations. In this respect they should
represent something new, stunning and exceptional. The exhibition
is there to draw the attention of the experts’ community
to the young talents and to make them known within a wide
audience.
Candidates must be under 30 years of age in the domains of
applied arts, and under 35 years of age in the domain of
technology (before the 1st of March, 2004).
This year, deadline for the arrival
of international applications (outside Germany) will be 31
October 2003. Candidates who are interested
should contact Titus
Kockel,
Abteilung Messen,
Handwerkskammer für München und Oberbayern,
